Manchester by the Sea
From the very beginning film takes a leisurely narrative pace and makes it clear that this movie session will be long. The movie really takes a little more that two hours, but does not allow the viewer to get bored even despite the lack of actions scenes in the conventional sense. Manchester by the Sea is a very sad and very touching drama about a young man who foolishly made a mistake that led to horrific consequences and with result of these consequences he has to spend all the rest of life. He withdraws into himself and went to another town away from the place in which he can no longer live. But after his life brings another challenge he has to go back to Manchester by the Sea, where everything reminds him of that fateful night. Throughout the film we see and understand the mental anguish of the hero but we are not able to help him. After movie ends many probably will think about how they would try to handle a similar situation being in a position in which I’m sure no one ever wanted to be. Movie is filled with probably the most awkward conversations, dialogues and telephone calls in history of modern cinema. You don’t have here sparkling dialogues in Quentin Tarantino style. Here, every word is uttered through the lump in throat and grinded with inner torments of characters. That’s why each of rare joke in this film is much appreciated and brings if not laughter, then certainly a big smile. Casey Affleck has prven that he is a great actor and not inferior in acting skill to the new Batman. Definitely I recommend Manchester by the Sea for everyone to watch.
