xXx: The Return of Xander Cage
The Return of Xander Cage film looks like the bastard son of the of The Fast and the Furious and The Expendables movies. No one has expected but here it is. If to judge without fear or favor in two words it is a trashy movie. But on other side I don’t think it is much worse than the first episode of xXx, probably because I just grew up in the 16 years between release of these films and my perception has changed. Despite the aforementioned skepticism I still believe that it is totally possible to have fun and enjoy wathing this movie just by not paying attention to the stupidity, unrealistic physics, lack of logic, as well as not to look for a deep meaning of what is happening on the screen. The film is full of fearsome one liners, frown looks, violent and raging action scenes, silly jokes and a lot of cliches. But isn’t we go to the cinema for Vin Diesel movies exactly for this? In addition, George Lucas once said: “Don’t avoid the cliches — they are cliches because they work!”
I can recommend this movie for teenage audience and for above mentioned movie franchises fans. But for lovers of good movies I strongly recommend this weekend to watch American Pastoral or Manchester by the Sea.
