Choice is ours.
This is my first story. Here goes.
I am Jevne, jehv-knee. I live in the Northland of Duluth, MN where summers are short and winters are cruel. You may wonder why I would choose to live in such a place. Perhaps an over used response would be “I’m from here”, but I am not, in fact, a born Northlander. Living in a few different regions of Minnesota for my life, I have never been able to return to a place I once lived. I must go somewhere new and do my best with what I’ve got. I have lived here for a year and a half roughly, and love my new home. I chose to come here, I choose to stay.
Something I am struggling with this week in particular is the idea of choice. Without divulging into too much detail, my love and I have been faced with difficult choices revolving around our relationship, our future, and our well being. Virtually standing alone with only Conor by my side, we made a choice. We chose us- to do what is best for us and us alone.
Though we have a multitude of support networks in our lives, plenty of people to call upon for advice and weight on the scales of decisions, ultimately we have to choose for ourselves what we need to better ourselves and become better for each other. It all strips down to one thing- us. We chose for us. We chose to be better, to move forward, and to only strengthen ourselves.
This is my first piece. Whether or not this site is meant for personal blogging or story sharing, here it is.
