Hi everyone, welcome to my humble blog where I will share my experience as a software engineer in D-Nitro team within KPN.

For you who didn’t know KPN is a Telecommunication company in Netherland and D-Nitro team purpose is to facilitate DevOps team achieve quality at speed by providing tools and guiding them on using these tools. Our goal is to accelerate the software development lifecycle for application teams by providing a paved road of practices, way of working and tools.

For our tech stack we use Django, Vue, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Artifactory, etc.

# D-Nitro team

D-Nitro team was created 4.5 years ago to help DevOps team deliver their value by providing tools and guidance. This happened in the middle of our digital transformation as more and more teams start to apply DevOps principles. We are 5 engineers team with 3 senior software engineer and 2 sofware engineer trainee including myself.

# Our Schedule

We work 5 days a week but we only came to the office on Monday and Thursday, which on Thursday the office will be a lot busier than Monday.

# WHAT WE DO AT WORK

First we always have a daily standup at 10 to share what will we be focusing on today and our progress on what we worked on yesterday. We always tell everyone what do they do at the weekend and have a cup of coffee to start the day.

Usually the meeting can last around 30 minutes but on some occasion if there are product owner or urgent problem the meeting could last longer.

We also have an alignment meeting every Monday to align our priorities on our focus this week.

After that we will have some time after lunch, during that time we work with our ticket. Then we will have lunch at 12 and everyone usually eat at the cafeteria.

After Lunch we will continue with our work but if I am in the office , sometime there are a lot of meeting such as meeting with mentor, retrospective, etc.

Then we will continue work until around 4–5 pm but on monday we will have a jennie’s hour which is a session where we as a D-Nitro team will come together to know each other by playing games, eat snack, and more.

That is a day in my life as a software engineer in D-Nitro team. Thanks for reading :).
