I remember a day,

Many years ago,

We set out through the trees,

Into the valley below.

It was there you ran, into the river so free.

And stopped and turned, so that you could see me.

Then frolicked around, so full of joy,

It was just a moment, between a dog and boy.

And now I make my way, though the same trees,

I am much older,

You are no longer with me.

I stand at the river,

That moment is gone without a trace.

You are not here,

But this was the place.
