Accomplished!

The wheels began to move quickly on December 14, 2014. I had just signed to write my first jewelry design and technique book. Yes, I said my first book. the word ‘first’ could be taken in two ways…’first’ as in none before it, or ‘first’ meaning there will be more to follow. What I thought of as first (at first I meant non before it), but the more I thought about it and after a comment by a friend, my meaning turned around to mean there will be more to follow. It was quite a ride; frustrating, stressful, deadlines, writing, writers block, creative block, and the best laid design plans that just didn’t play out well. I am pleased to say that I was able to meet my deadlines despite working full time. OK, so the floors at home had a few strategic free floating dust bunnies, and I holed up in my home studio weekends. When I did venture out, it was not without paper and pencil, I was even known to carry around sheets of copper, electrical tape and a craft knife so I could cut designs for etching. Yes, electrical tape does expand and become unruly during the summer under the heat of the sun at the beach. Unfortunately I was so focused on my deadline that I found it really difficult to relax, let the stress go, have fun. After all, this was a golden opportunity for me to expand my horizons and join the ranks of other highly creative and successful artists. I have been creating art to wear for about 10 years-although I have still not solidified a particular style. I may never arrive at a particular style, but I can describe my work as rustic and earthy, but wearable. I also don’t wish to be held to a certain style, there is so much to learn, so many avenues to explore! So, for now, upcoming is my first book.
