“If you read any particular passage of Scripture, and think you have come up with some novel interpretation that nobody has ever thought of before……you haven’t. It’s already been thought of hundreds of times before, if not thousands.”

You are assuming that each generation that asked these questions and try to answer them accept the same presuppositions, both cultural (whether philosophical or even scientific) and spiritual.

As a christian I am confronted by many who try to espouse a Christian worldview but seem to refuse to address or deny the cultural presuppositions that underpin that worldview. Or they don’t care. And the result is it is impossible to live today a worldview built on pre-21st century (and even older) primarily Western (and more specifically, US) presuppositions.
