Social Media is here since 2007, probably earlier, it raised a new way of web, interactions between companies and customers, new way of communication, promotion, ads, and a long etc. and now the Social Media is no longer between companies and users about products, it’s about feelings, empathy.
Customers search for an experience, a window through the company or the product or service, it includes new ways of telling what you do. How did we get this conclusion? See web design trends, now they are less obscure, more focus on visual, blocks, photos, nice typography, messages, short but more effective texts and systems to adapt the web to any device.

So the point is, in 2014 Social Media will be no longer about selling some product, it will be about telling the story about your product/service.
My bet for 2014 in SM is storytelling: Instagram, exposure and video platforms.
What about content? For sure, it’s more important nowadays than it used to be, but take care, we’re talking about GOOD content. In web there’s a lot of information and it comes with a price, noise and over-information. So you need to offer good, precise and real-time (when it’s possible) content, and for this you need to use content curators and content experts.
My bet for 2014 in content: Medium, twitter and curated news in your area of expertise.
And as always, ethics and best practices in what you do or what you say, don’t sell imaginary-bikes, don’t fake, be honest and try your best in 2014.
