We as a society has to start looking from a different perspective. It is quite possible automation / robots will drastically reduce the cost of goods and services. Today in US it takes 60–8ok annually for a person to sustain himself . This can be driven down to say 10k annually and this totally changes the game and makes it sustainable. It will be significantly less in other countries.

For e.g. A taxi ride with a person who drives taxi for a living cost around $20. With Uber’s model it is driven to $15. Without a driver the same taxi ride will cost around $4. The same model can be applied to most other human driven industry including doctors, care-takers, teachers etc. drastically reducing the overall cost and making it possible for most people to survive with a fraction of their current take home salary.

This will also ensure a small percentage of efficient humans working and producing the goods / services for majority of the human population.

This can ultimately lead to eradication of poverty from the face of earth and providing equal opportunity to everyone.
