Airline bashing, America’s new favorite pastime
Shawn G. Chittle

The Delta incident doesn’t surprise me because it’s the “American Way” to slack on infrastructure and use capital equipment far too long. Infrastruture is not sexy so it doesn’t get maintained.

I’ve had far better experiences on non-US airlines when it comes to up-keep and even just operational attention. I just don’t have high expectations for any US-flagged carrier. I know them. Their corporate personalities. Their national cultural mores. It’s predictable if disappointing.
