“npm-check” is pretty comprehensive. It does have the added benefit of not needing to alter any files in your repo also.
Writing an update script is just a quick and dirty solution for the brave to get round the limitations of “npm update” haha. The upside is that it will always work.
I have to say I don’t currently use “npm-check” but I was aware of some CLI tools to handle the issue. However, sometimes I’m deterred when I see some of the issues they can have like only working in some node versions etc.
