This is Not Our Ancestor’s America: What Kanye West Was Really Trying To Tell Us . . . I Think
This piece is targeted to the youth of America. By youth I do not mean age. By youth I mean anyone out there with enough energy to believe that you/we can still change things in this country and world. Also, this piece has very little to do with Kanye but in the current clout-chasing and clickbait climate; I had to do what I had to do (Kanye Shrug).

I’m not sure what many of you did this labor day weekend but I did what I do pretty much every day of my life; sit on YouTube and learn. I can admit that since 2005 when Youtube was first created, 90% of what I know today I have learned on Youtube. I built a side project that turned into an actual company, solely from information learned on YouTube. And I am on record saying that Youtube is just as important of an invention as the internet itself. In fact, Youtube is the internet! Well, for me, atleast.
But this weekend I spent three hours of my life watching these two documentaries: Why Big Oil Conquered The World and How Big Oil Conquered The World. And my initial reaction are these three words: HOLY F*****G SHIT! Out of fear of being banned from LinkedIn or Medium I am not going to go into much detail about what each documentary is about. Mainly because my company’s account was recently banned from Twitter for sharing screenshots of one of our users talking about Alex Jones, ON OUR APP. I had no idea of what Alex Jones stood for before I tweeted the screenshots. That day I simply saw #AlexJones trending and saw our users chatting about it so I hopped on the wave. In fact, I do this to many tending topics on Twitter. It’s a growth hack for us. I would usually screenshot our beautifully designed app and use the hashtag in order to recruit people to join our app. I would usually get 5–10 new users per hashtag. It was a great strategy until we were banned from Twitter for harassment of all things.
You can read more about that here:
Back to the documentaries. If I had to sum the two documentaries up I would say this: If you want to find out who the invisible hands are who have been controlling our world are and if you want to learn why wealthy people rarely get in trouble when they commit crimes, these documentaries are a must watch. That is all I have to say.
This is Not Our Ancestor’s America
Back in the day many of our ancestors had to fight for the rights many of us have today. It did not matter if you were Black, Women, Gay, Mexican, Jewish, Asian or Irish. And for many of us, we are still fighting today. But we have to admit the fight today is totally different than the fight our ancestors fought back in their days. Back in their days many of our ancestors had to literally survive (physically and mentally). They had to figure out innovative ways to make it to the next day day alive and well. And we will forever be indebted to our ancestors for all of their sacrifices because without them we would not be where we are today. But I think our fight is harder mentally because we do not know who we should be fighting against. Back in the day there were people trying to kill our ancestors so it was easy for them to know who their enemies were. Their/Our enemies were savvy enough to convince their own enemies to be allies so they could become our enemies and ruin our lives. But who are our enemies today? For many of us the first person to come to mind is Donald Trump because he is “evil”, “the devil”, and he rips “families apart”. But read this:
“One agent said, in Spanish, according to the complaint she filed later, “Right now, we close the door, we rape you and f*** you. If you cooperate with us, we can deport you to Mexico. Otherwise, we will take you to jail and deport your entire family.” They told her that her child would end up in foster care. Terrified and alone, Jahveel signed. If you assumed this abuse happened during the Trump administration, think again. Jahveel was threatened in 2009 by President Obama’s Border Patrol, and her treatment was not an isolated incident. Her case is part of a pattern of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by Customs and Border Protection officials against child immigrants that existed long before President Trump emboldened the agency by unleashing its officers to enforce his draconian immigration policies.”

Here is an excerpt:
“Al-Ameri recalled the events, in an interview with human rights organisation Reprieve: “That day, we had lunch, ate and drank water and headed to pick up the bride. We were around 60–70 people and around 12 cars. The mood was joyful and I was so pleased. I was surrounded with friends and family. I was so happy. It was my wedding party. Then we were hit.”
This fight seems to be bigger than Obama and it is definitely bigger than Trump. Our fight is against the invisible people in this world whose business model is to control us. They want to control our thoughts, our emotions, our money, our food. They want to control our lives and they have been successful so far solely because they are controlling our imagination. And we have the power to stop that if we take back the only thing in this world that is rightfully ours; our personal imagination. The human imagination is the most powerful thing in this world because we have the power to see the world however we want it to be. Especially today because we have the internet and services like YouTube where we can find out anything and learn how to turn our weaknesses into strengths.
So I think this is what Kanye is trying to say:
LET’S UNITE AS ONE TO MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE AND LET’S TELL THIS INVISIBLE INFLUENCE THAT THEIR REIGN IS UP! THEY CAN NO LONGER CONTROL US!
This is not our ancestors America friends. This is our America, let’s change it together simply because we can.
Love!
