Bipasha Basu Singh Grover, an Indian actress and former model was born on January 7, 1979[3]. She is

best recognized for her work in Hindi movies, but she has also acted in English, Bengali, Tamil, and

Telugu movies. Basu has received many honors, including one Filmfare Award. She is regularly referred

to in the media as a sex symbol and a scream queen, particularly for her work in thriller and horror

cinema genres, as well as for several item numbers.

Basu pursued a lucrative career as a fashion model after being born in Delhi and raised in Kolkata. Later,

she started getting offers for movie parts, and in 2001, she made her acting debut in the suspense film

Ajnabee, for which she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. In 2002's horror

movie Raaz, Basu had her first leading role and was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

financially successful movies (2008). She predominantly appeared in horror movies in the 2010s,

including Raaz 3D (2012), Aatma (2013), Creature 3D (2014), and Alone (2015). After that, she took a

break, only appearing in the online series Dangerous (2020).

In addition to starring in movies, Basu enjoys working out and has appeared in several workout

videos. In 2015, she served as the host of the horror program Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. After a well-

publicized romance with actor John Abraham, Basu married actor Karan Singh Grover in 2016.

Early life and modeling career

Bipasha Basu was born to a Bengali family in Delhi on January 7, 1979. [Reference needed] Her mother,

Mamta is a housewife, while her father, Hirak, is a civil engineer. She has two sisters: Vijayeta, her

younger sister, and Bidisha, her older sister. Her name, which is also the name of a river, symbolizes

" profound black desire," according to Basu.

Basu attended Apeejay High School in Delhi and lived in Pamposh Enclave, Nehru Place, until he was

eight. She participated at the Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir in Bidhannagar at Bhavan when her

family relocated to Kolkata [4]. [5] Basu was chosen to be the head girl at her school and was

affectionately known as " Lady Goonda" because of her diminutive stature and strong leadership abilities.

The model Mehr Jesia Rampal noticed Basu in a hotel in Kolkata in 1996 and advised her to try modeling.

acting.

Acting career

Debut: 2001–02

Vinod Khanna, one of the judges of the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest in which Basu competed,

wanted to cast her alongside his son Akshaye Khanna in Himalay Putra. Still, she rejected the offer

because she thought she was too young, and the part ultimately went to Anjala Zaveri. Jaya Bachchan persuaded her to star alongside her son Abhishek Bachchan in J. P. Dutta's Aakhari Mughal

when she got home. [10] The movie was canceled, though, and Dutta created Refugee with Kareena

Kapoor after altering the script. [11] A part in Refugee opposite Sunil Shetty was also offered to Basu,

but she turned it down.

Basu finally made her acting debut in 2001, co-starring with Akshay Kumar in Vijay Galani's Ajnabee. The

American movie Consenting Adults served as inspiration for the film directed by Abbas-Mustan. [12] It

had a mediocre box office performance and received negative reviews from reviewers. [13] Basu won

the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut even though critics praised her performance in a

negative character.

Fitness DVD launch

Basu is an enthusiast for physical fitness in addition to movies. Her debut workout DVD, Bollywood

Bodies, which she co-produced with John Abraham, was released in 2005. [83] In 2010, she created her

first fitness DVD by herself, titled Love Yourself: Fit & Fabulous You, emphasizing the importance of

loving and taking care of oneself. [84] The weight-loss method on the DVD included a beginner's

workout, an expert workout, and a " easy tone" session. It was a 60-day regimen. She also served as the

Sugar-Free brand ambassador, which assisted her in advertising the DVD. Director of Shemaroo

Entertainment Hiren Gada stated: " A famous person who values health is Bipasha Basu. She has

a strong interest in physical fitness." [85] Later, in September 2011, Basu released her second fitness

DVD, called Break Free, is a 30-minute dance.

Unleash, the anticipated third installment of Bipasha Basu's Love Yourself DVD fitness series, is an

advanced training program that incorporates plyometrics and emphasizes speed
