I agree with you, Alan, though in many companies there is still a mighty thick layer of intractable management whose primary job is to justify their job within the company. These bullshit grinders often will entrench themselves in outdated processes and arcane details that only they know, and are as impervious to suggestions from underlings as the armored belly of a WW2 bomber. Making the UX argument to these people is a waste of time, since many of them specialize in upward management and are as quick to take credit as they are to shut down anything they see as disruptive. I think in general, though, you are right, but I wish that valid UX methodology were a bigger part of every business. The C-levels need to push it, and to push it they need to understand it.
