“Our job as Americans” is the sort of jingoistic bullshit that flies in the face of our history. Our job as Americans is to stay the hell out of policy decisions for other countries. How about looking around here, first? Last I checked, most of my tax money is being split between corporate welfare for companies like Walmart and General Electric and a massive military budget that also serves at the behest of the same corporations. This old-fashioned idea of America the Good is as corrosive as it is false.
