Our milkman also did brownies. And originally, the butter came in these crockery tubs that kept the butter cold when you put it out on the table (or kept the melting butter contained if you left it out too long).
OTOH, we had to determine twice a week what we needed in the way of dairy supplies. Planning! Foresight! The building blocks of… something useful. [he said somewhat wistfully]
