I propose that at least one major root of the problem is this: that “intellectual property” as an economic and legal concept is maladaptive to the contemporary environment. To cut to the chase, it is both obsolete and dangerous and we would be better off without it.

Agreed, and most certainly correct … however, an important truth, the law is almost always years behind the reality developing on the ground. This was true even before the acceleration of everything, facilitated by technology, took a firm grasp on the world and began to disrupt everything.
