Kerry, I had to go to my phone to get it done, finally. I used both my computer AND my phone. You go to the drop down menu to the upper right (the instructions tell you it’s a gear, the gear doesn’t exist). Pick Settings. Go General information (bear with me, if I log back onto Facebook it will cancel my cancellation so I don’t DARE). Under that I think there are two options, one is your data or something like that. That brings up a menu in the middle, the last of which is to delete your account. The only way you know it’s working is if it demands you sign in several times. Remember this took me FOUR HOURS of trying and I had to enlist Geek Squad to ensure that it worked. Going through my phone is the way that it finally did it for me. If you Google the instructions online, there are a variety of versions, pick the one that includes that Facebook makes it very hard.

Here is a YouTube Video which I just found: https://www.google.com/search?q=deleting+facebook+account+permanently&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-ab#kpvalbx=1

Give it a shot. Be free, my friend.
