“It’s time to start designing for our ears. Architects and designers tend to focus exclusively on this.”

There are at least three groups of people suffering from bad acoustics of rooms. They are people with impaired hearing, ESL, and introverts. I had no idea about it until I became one of them, a newcomer to NYC. Whether a communication is effective or not depends on not only whom I talk to, but also where we talk. Over the past week, I’ve recorded lectures in different classrooms. Sounds reverberated in different spaces resulting in many unique recordings. So today’s work is about sound visualization and a consideration on the relationship between sounds and construction space.

The sounds are depicted by porcessing. Noises and excessive sounds will be shown as hollow circles on the screen.

Let’s start form the most standard samples: rain sound and TOFLE listening.
