I completely agree with you that a Runtime environment should not be compared with another language. But for the aspiring “developers”, comparison of JS and RUBY won’t be of much help as they wont be able to related how that affects their web server code. They might know JS as well as Ruby but how a server functions on those would be of much better value to them.

NodeJS and RoR being two technologies which are frequently referred to as something which builds a web server, a general comparison of “features” gives a rough idea about how to choose the technology stack.

I think the way files are included in both the cases make difference. Importing other files is there in almost all the languages in which case the file names can be flexible. But when developing server on rails, there is a limitation on which file name you can change and which you cannot.
