Hear Oh hear, the clarion call
Your service, awaits your fatherland
It must be that time; you are done with academic pursuits
Your nation scheduled it, NYSC is next.

There is so much to hope for as promised
You dream, you yarn and plan with high spirits
Especially the wish to be employed there after
So happy you just feel, a sneak peak at independence

Three weeks camping, the highlight of this experience
All who walked it had rumoured it so
Using social media to amplify the camps' social activities
For nothing you should miss it, an invaluable experience it shall be

Or so you must have thought
Clothed in whites to be nicknamed "White fowls"
Taking oaths you hardly understand
To be woken before and chased to sleep after Nigeria by trumpets

Camp right? Regimented more than you could imagine
You are so engaged that you forget your daily hobbies
The line between discipline and sheer suffering, invisible
You are at the mercy and commands of soldiers "Sojo"

Will you endure the 21days stay or seek an exit?
It is fun if you are a socialite or learn to become one
But are you told as others have clouded it to be fun filled?
So many lies you’d wish you’d known the truth before answering this clarion call.

Perception and dispensation matters a lot if you are planning on going to NYSC camp. Truth be told, no amount of planning can make you prepared for the 3weeks camping but the mindset you go with is the best tool and preparation you can make. Yes, following how others who have gone before you portray it to be is like following a mirage. It is fun but stressful. During the parading, the disgraceful moments, the early wakings and late sleeping, timed rests that aren’t enough and the likes, no one has the time to post them on social media. They only have the time during social activities that are mandatory to attend. To foster unity, where ever a Corp member is (and should be), all the others must be found present too. It is a written rule as it is always spoken of too. Naturally, socialites really enjoy themselves during those social activities but what about the others who aren’t so social? Those who like to keep to themselves; it’s a terrorising torture and may not keep up. But there is good news for that too. That is when you have to view it as an opportunity rather than a problem. Choose your own people, move without compromising yourself and really, you will make the most of camping.
