Are you looking for a way to spruce up your home office or workspace? Do you want to make a wall calendar that reflects your personality and style? If you answered yes, then you’re in luck. I have the perfect DIY project for you: a wall calendar with acrylic and vinyl.

acrylic

This project is super fun and easy to do. You don’t need any special skills or experience. All you need is some acrylic sheet, vinyl, a vinyl cutting machine, and some basic tools. And the best part is, you can customize your calendar however you like.

In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make your own wall calendar with acrylic and vinyl. I’ll also give you some tips and tricks to avoid common pitfalls and make your calendar look awesome. Trust me, you’ll love the result.

Ready to get started? Here’s what you’ll need:

Materials

acrylic
  • 18" x 24" clear acrylic sheet
  • 4 standoffs (3/4" diameter x 1" depth)
  • Black vinyl (or another color of your choice)
  • Transfer paper
  • Dry erase markers
  • Free calendar SVG file (The Almighty Google)

Tools

  • Drill
  • Step drill bit (or 1/2" twist bit)
  • Vinyl cutting machine (Silhouette or Cricut)
  • Cutting mat
  • Vinyl weeding tools
  • Tape measure
  • Level

Steps

  1. Drill holes in the acrylic sheet for the standoffs. You’ll need to drill four holes in the corners of the acrylic sheet, about 1" from each edge. Use a step drill bit or a twist bit to make clean holes without cracking the acrylic. Keep the protective film on the acrylic sheet until you’re done drilling.
  2. Cut the vinyl decals with your vinyl cutting machine. You can use my free calendar SVG file or design your own. Just make sure to size it according to your acrylic sheet dimensions. You’ll need to cut the vinyl in sections if it’s larger than your cutting mat. Weed out the excess vinyl and apply transfer paper over the decals.

  1. Apply the vinyl decals to the acrylic sheet. Peel off the protective film from the acrylic sheet and carefully align the vinyl decals on top. Use a tape measure and a level to make sure they are straight and centered. Press down firmly and smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles. Peel off the transfer paper slowly and gently.
  2. Mount the acrylic sheet on the wall with the standoffs. Mark the locations of the holes on the wall with a pencil and drill pilot holes for the screws. Insert the screws through the standoffs and attach them to the wall with anchors if needed. Place washers over the screws and slide the acrylic sheet over them. Secure with nuts on the back of the standoffs.
  3. Enjoy your new wall calendar! Use dry erase markers to write on your calendar and erase as needed. You can also add some magnets or hooks to hang notes, photos, or accessories.

Tips and Tricks

acrylic
  • To avoid scratching or damaging your acrylic sheet, work on a soft surface and wear gloves when handling it.
  • To avoid bubbles or wrinkles in your vinyl decals, use high-quality vinyl and transfer paper, and apply them slowly and carefully.
  • To avoid crooked or uneven decals, use a tape measure, a level, and a ruler to align them properly.
  • To avoid drilling mistakes, use a drill bit that matches the size of your standoffs, and check twice before drilling.
  • To avoid damaging your wall, use anchors or wall plugs if you’re drilling into drywall or plaster.
