Artful Explorations: Pablo’s Journey through Colors and Continents
In the charming town of Polvaredas, near the Chilean-Argentine border, lives a remarkable artist and musician named Pablo Carlos Budassi. At 42, Pablo, along with his partner and children, explores the breathtaking landscapes of Chile and Argentina, drawing inspiration from the majestic Aconcagua, the highest mountain outside Asia.
Pablo leads a diverse and vibrant life, wearing many hats — a session musician, a designer specializing in scientific illustration, and a former architect. His artistic journey began in childhood, fueled by a passion for music and programming. From playing in various bands to producing local talent, Pablo’s path eventually led him to study and graduate as an architect, bringing a unique perspective to his artistic compositions.
His artistic pursuits expanded beyond traditional boundaries into music composition, scenography, costume design, special effects, poetry, and visual arts. Joining the musical project Zona Ganjah as a keyboardist marked a significant chapter, taking him on a journey across Latin America. His connection with the Jigsaw Puzzle Universe was inevitable after discovering the Gotiva project, captivated by its completeness, innovation, and entertainment value. What truly impressed him was its potential to bring together a community of puzzle enthusiasts, artists, and diverse individuals.
Pablo’s favorite creation, “Nature Timespiral,” is a testament to his artistic prowess, encapsulating the biology and geology of our world. Recognized in scientific publications and nature sites, it stands as his number one piece. Beyond the canvas, Pablo finds joy in climbing high mountains and explores the mysteries of entheogenic plants.
Despite his diverse tastes in movies and books, Pablo is deeply concerned about the threats to our world — climate change, resource extraction, hunger, violence, and the specter of war. Intriguingly, he crafts his own musical instruments, like an electronic drum set with color-changing spheres and psychedelic sound effects.
For artists just starting, Pablo says it’s okay if things are tough at first — think of them like steps to get better. Before you make a lot of money, find joy in creating art. “Try different types of art”, Pablo said, to see all the cool things you can do. Spend a lot of time practicing and getting better at what you love to do. When you feel unsure, remember how Pablo keeps going even when things are uncertain. “It’s like climbing a hard mountain — every step you take helps you see an amazing view at the top”. Try using new and different tools in your art, and let your special way of doing things come out. “Even though it’s nice to get applause and be noticed, the real happiness in art comes from enjoying what you create, making a difference to others, and being true to yourself.” Follow what you’re passionate about, be strong when things get tough, and let your creativity guide you.
