Sorry about the title. I was just trying to be creative with it. Breaking Bad, without a doubt, is my favorite tv show. In this analysis, I am going to look at the api of the show and glimpse at its summary, genre, ratings, etc. Then, since Breaking Bad has the word “bad” in their name, I want to look at any other tv shows that have the word “bad” in their names. I want to look at their ratings, compare them with one another, and find out the average rating. If I look at “bad”, I got to look at “good” too. I am going to calculate the average ratings of shows that have the word “good” in their names as well. Lastly, I am going to pull out the characters in Breaking Bad from their characters API.

Let’s begin with the genre of the show. It’s Drama, Crime, and Thriller. Those all make sense to me. There are many stories coming from different characters in the show and all of them are precious.

Let’s look at the summary of the show. The main character is named Walter White and he is diagnosed with cancer. In order to secure his financial security, he decides to cook methamphetamine aka crystal meth. He is a very smart guy and he teaches chemistry in high school. He knows all about the stuff and eventually, he becomes the kingpin of the drug trade. This show takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The language of this show is English. But when you watch it, there’s some Spanish in it too. There are many Mexican characters from drug cartels from Mexico.

The drama series was first premiered on January 20, 2008.

Again, all of this data came from the Breaking Bad API

Most importantly, Breaking Bad received a rating of 9.3. That’s pretty amazing. If you haven’t already seen it, I highly recommend it. Recently, a Breaking Bad movie came out as El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. It portraits what happens after the show was over to this character named Jesse Pinkman. He is another protagonist of this show who partners up with Walter White and the meth business. Both the show and the movie are available on Netflix.

Here is a picture of one of the Breaking Bad posters I found online.

The scary looking man on the right-hand side is Walter White, the main character of this drama series. His nickname is “Heisenberg”, as well as “Meth King Pin”. Not so scary looking man on the left-hand side is Jesse Pinkman. His nickname is “Cap n’ Cook”.

Now, here are the ratings of any other shows that have the word “bad” in their names. Not so surprisingly, Breaking Bad has the highest rating of all. Other names of the shows include: Bad Blood, Bad Influencer, Bad Mothers, Bad Banks, etc. You might think if the word “bad” is in the name of the show, it gets you interested, such as “Bad Mothers” — but if you look at its rating, it’s only 6.6. Even if the name of the show is compelling, what actually matters is the story, characters, and the details inside the show. The average rating of all these shows came out to be 7.6, which I think is not too bad.

Let’s look at the shows that have the word “good” in their names, which is the opposite of “bad”. These include: The Good Doctor, The Good Place, Good Witch, The Good Fight, Good Trouble, etc. Personally, I watch The Good Place and I think it’s a great show talking about ethics and stuff. It’s surprising to see that its rating is below 8. I also recognize The Good Doctor. I feel like the word “good” in the name of show isn’t as interesting as the word “bad” in the name of the show; but yet, the average rating of these shows is a slight higher than the average of rating of the shows that have the word “bad” in them above, just by a little bit.

To conclude, some shows didn’t have their ratings collected but still, many of them did. Shows with the word “bad” in their names’ average rating was 7.6. Shows with the word “good” in their names’ average rating was 7.7. It indicates the shows with the word “good” in their names have/had better average ratings just by a little bit. These average ratings always change as more and more shows come out on television.

Back to Breaking Bad, let’s look at the character description of Walter White. As you can see, he is an old man who works as a chemistry teacher in high school. Spoiler alert, don’t look at his status.

This is the character description for Jesse Pinkman. He not only cooks meth with Walter but also deals it. He hires a couple of his friends as their distributors.

Here are some of the other characters that appear in the show. There are so many more characters than it appears in this screenshot. This API contained all the characters that were in the show.

There are a lot more than what’s on the list.
