Aesthet individual activity #4
Me and my college friends went to the National Museum. It was my first time going there; although I am not a big fan of art it wasn’t so bad after all. I tried to take a photo of all the paintings but it made realize that feeling the moment is better than capturing it. I learned a lot from those arts, like our history (Philippine history) it amazed me how an individual can do a lot through his artworks and the way they express themselves are astonishing. When I first saw the spoliarium (painting) I was speechless I didn’t utter a single word my jaw dropped as well, in my mind I was like (WOAH). For me spoliarium embodied the essence of our social, moral and political life: we were in a severe ordeal, unredeemed reasons in an open struggle with prejudice of fanaticism and idealism. They proved to the world that the indios could do it as well despite of their supposed barbaric race. He (Juan Luna) paints better than the Spaniards who colonized them. That painting showed our current state on that time when we were still slaves. It is practically saying that we should stop being slaves and fight for the freedom of our country.

Here are the other photos I’ve taken inside the National museum.
