Why We Dance — University of Nevada, Reno

Behind the scenes of the University of Nevada, Reno’s Dance Department and UNR’s Student Choreography Showcase 2017.

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Department of Dance is growing rapidly with it’s newly implemented Dance major and thriving student engagement. With the success of the annual Fall Dance Festival put on by the department, students have been curious about the process of preparing for a show.

What most who aren't involved with the demanding art that is dance are unaware of is the blood, sweat, tears, and devotion that goes into the final product; the show. Years and years of perfecting the art, months and months of rehearsing the routines, and hours and hours in the studio are just the start of the process. If all of this is a factor in performing dance, then why do we do it? It’s a simple answer, because it is more than a hobby or passion, it’s our lives.

Thank you to all who participated in the making of this film, your beautiful talent made this video a joy to produce. Congrats to all the dancers, choreographers, crew members, and faculty on a wonderful show.
