Decorating With Flooring

When decorating a home, much of the attention goes into wall color, paintings and furniture and flooring often falls to the bottom of the list. Choosing the proper flooring can make a huge impact on how your home looks and how it is used. Here is some advice on choosing the right flooring for the right rooms.

Kitchens
It is very important to choose a good flooring for your kitchen. It needs to look good but you must consider the use of the area so it must also be durable and cleanable. Wood floors are often selected for their beauty but these are horrible choices for a kitchen. Cleaning wood floors requires a low moisture approach so it can be difficult to get them clean in a kitchen where a good mopping is needed. Baths
Much like the kitchen, a bathroom floor must be durable and cleanable. Ceramic tile or a properly sealed natural stone would be a good choice. Carpet and wood should once again be avoided. Living Areas
You have more options in a living area. You can do tile, stone, wood floors or carpet. Tile and stone do not fit living areas as well as kitchen and baths and do not make a room seem warm. The best and most poular choice for a living area is wood flooring. It adds warmth to a room and is more durable than carpet. Carpet in a living area will require frequent carpet cleaning and can become troublesome. If you have pets and want to add resistance from pet nail scratches, consider a high end laminate wood floor. Do not cheap out on a laminate because a cheap laminate floor will bring the looks of a room down. It iwll not hold up to use and will soon buckle and the edged will lift. Expect to pay almost as much for a good laminate as you would for a wood floor.

Bedrooms
The best choice for a bedroom is carpet. Carpet will add comfort and has another advantage, it keeps the air clean. The carpet will trap dust and pollen and make the air in the room cleaner. This is very impoirtant if you want to wake up with clear sinuses. It is also comforting to step on to a warm and soft floor on a winter morning. Carpet comes in all styles and price ranges but if you want it to last, choose a quality Nylon carpet. It is more durable than most other materials and is stain resistant.
