Another theory:
Nike controls ~60% of the athletic footwear market and ~35% of the overall athletic apparel market. Add to that, 99.99% of Americans have some sort of viewpoint on “patriotism” and “respect for the flag”. So there is probably a fairly sizeable cross-over between the two.
Levi Strauss controls about ~10% of the denim jean market and ~30% of households have a firearm. What is the crossover rate? 2%? 3%?
Levi Strauss has also been involved with anti-gun advocacy previously so it isn’t like any gun owners are surprised by their actions.
So maybe gun owners didn’t own any Levi-Strauss jeans to burn?
