So much over-wrought angst in one article!

To refresh your memory: Having issued the order, Customs and Border Patrol (the CBP) had started to detain nationals of the seven affected countries as soon as their planes touched down, including legal permanent residents of the US, with the intent of deporting them on the spot. Even though courts around the country were issuing injunctions ordering the practice to stop immediately, CBP did not do so, and they continued to detain people, deny them access to counsel, and deport them throughout the night.

To refresh your memory, judges issue orders halting Federal processes every single day of the week. They are NEVER implemented immediately. You’d crap your pants of they were.

When a judge issues an order it goes back to the Federal agency for review and the process stays in place until that agency issues directives to all of their employees on how to implement the court order.

Do you really want hundreds of thousands of Federal employees each deciding on their own if/when they will follow any given court’s orders?
