300++ million Americans could have been nominated for President, and our choices come down to a mendacious woman and a male lout. How did our political parties come down to this astonishingly low level?

The answer is that our national parties have failed to address the needs of the people. One side is dedicated to the interests of the richest 1/10th of 1% and the other is so committed to minority group politics they can’t see Americans.
