There is listening, there is acknowledging, and there is dialog. Ignoring the calls of the aggrieved party, or responding defensively, does nothing for “spiritual progress” and does nothing to heal the rift that the incident has perpetuated. It is understandable when a seven year old has not yet learned this, but less so when an adult struggles with it.
