So, I’m meticulous with my work. I’ve done this one. The problem was always that this one perfect thing never felt done- it always needed a little more polish. Then we get into the hell of self editing while writing and never finishing the paragraph.
I aim for quality, and miss often, I can write with some quantity as well, but I hold off on the ‘publish’ button until they are of a minimum quality.
That said in a mere few months, the quality of my editing has improved so much that I can actually see how my earliest writings no longer stand up to that quality goal.
I’ve wondered the same thing about quantity over quality. Some writers can put out excellent content in a rapid fashion. While others take their time and savor the creative process. It could be a matter of preference. I personally, may be a combination of both.
The editor would probably tell you a very different tale, Jim, but I agree. I’ve done some editing and the real job aside from the obvious corrections is to make the writing shine. Not add your own stamp :)
