Día numero 3 on the JOB. YES, let’s add some Spanglish into the mix.

día 3

And why not add some Spanglish into the mix? Day three, I created the first of many flyers to come for www.ENGLISHecuador.com. We are offering a special of 12 sessions for $120.00. Yes, this is another business of ours. We teach English in Ecuador, go figure.

My new boss realized that I had been teaching English in Guayaquil since 2014 for a Swiss company. And I wasn’t particularly happy with the way their curriculum was set up. On most occasions I found myself veering from their set procedures and winging it in the classroom. The head of the school would praise me on my students’ improvement both in conversation and overall test scores. She mentioned that my students were content.

Usually a week or so later, the head would out-of-nowhere start to complain that I wasn’t following the school’s method of teaching. The coordinator of the learning center was sent to one of my classes where I of course failed miserably in following the institution’s teaching structure. I didn’t care as my students were jubilant and learning. Man, was I wrong in my thinking. I found myself immediately without classes and was forced to sit through a nine-hour video course on the the school’s methodology. At the end of this torture I was evaluated by the head and the coordinator. They beat me up some more with verbal banter of how I still wasn’t quite 100% with their methodology, but I was good enough. After a month and a half they finally gave me two measly classes. The pay doesn’t even cover my rent.

So, my new boss decided it was time for us to start our own English training courses. Of course, I was in complete agreement. I even came up with the name ENGLISH Ecuador. And why not, we are in Ecuador after all. So yesterday, on the third day on the job, I created the first promotional flyer that we’re going to post throughout the city offering our English-teaching services. I’m very excited with this prospect as I’m also creating the website that include the programs, our unique selling points and even videos. By the way, the website has to be up and running this Saturday.

My job has me also writing two screenplays that are due by Sunday. And finally, Monica and I have been editing “Unshakeable” for the past couple of days. The deadline for uploading the rough-cut is today. In my mind I think that I can meet this deadline. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. And yes, there are also many smaller projects in the works as well. Day 3 was definitely an incredible day and day 4 is turning out to be another blessing as well. I will keep reporting my progress. Cheers.
