The other boxer.

Yes, life is a boxing match. You can’t walk into a ring and fight another boxer without being prepared.

The three things you have to do to succeed in life are to know your opponent, study your enemy and prepare to beat him. When the challenge surfaces you will either win or at least give him a hell of a time.

And just like boxers, a loss doesn’t have to be permanent. Learn from your mistakes and get a rematch.

Who is your opponent? 90% of the time it is you. The other percent is nature. Let’s discuss you first. Most of us are full of doubt. I am not smart enough. I am not educated enough. I am not good looking enough. And the list goes on. Most of this insecurity comes from outside elements such as family, friends and the media. To overcome this self doubt, you must have an objective and a plan to win without the voices of the crowd, referrees and judges. You have to believe in yourself. Choose your opponent. Choose the fight. And aim to win.

OK, now let’s talk about nature. Well, like we mentioned above, it is the voice of anyone that tells you that it is impossible to win. And yes, that is almost everyone, so simply don’t listen and train hard to win. That’s all that needs to be said about the 10%. It is irrelevant but if you listen to this negativity it will become 90% of your belief and lead you to failure. So turn it around, be 90% sure you will be victorious and 10% unsure. Take that small percentage of fear and use it to make you more flexible, nimble and cautious. This allows you to improvise on your feet when the unexpected happens.

Enjoy the victory that you deserve. You trained hard after all and you earned it. Life is the other boxer. Knock it out and win.
