After banning cryptocurrency ads, Google has made a move to poach one of the finest brains in blockchain.

Google is pursuing Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin to join their team for a ‘mysterious’ blockchain project according to a tweet posted by Buterin May 20-which has since been deleted.

Buterin who is the genius behind Ethereum — the world’s second most valuable cryptocurrency network — posted a poll to his followers on Twitter where he asked:

“Should I drop ethereum and work for google?”

This poll was accompanied with a screenshot of a mail, allegedly from Google recruiter Elizabeth Garcia, asking if he would consider an offer from Google “now or in the near future.”

Before deleting the tweet, over 2,294 followers had voted — with 59% against and 41% in support of Buterin quitting Ethereum to join Google.

Google has lots resources to embrace new web standards when it wants, and it doesn’t come as a surprise why they might have identified Buterin as a perfect fit for their team.

In a report published on Bloomberg, a spokesperson for the company said Google had interest in the potential application of distributed ledger, but it’s still too early to speculate on implementation.

A lot of technology companies have been making inroads into blockchain in recent weeks with Facebook announcing it is assembling a blockchain team to explore the technology.

At press time, Ethereum is currently trading at $692, down a little more than 2.53 percent over a 24 hour period
