I had to fight back tears reading this saying in my head, “She knows my struggle!” I grew up in the bay area and like you, had dreams of attending college (specifically UC Berkeley) fresh out of high school but lacked the funding and support. Thank you for sharing this. For all of the untraditional students who started out in the negative and had to work twice as hard just to make it to everyone else’s starting point. For all of those students who grew up in poverty and walk into college classrooms everyday with the automatic assumption (imposter syndrome) that they do not belong, or that they are not as worthy. Thank you on behalf of all of us for sharing your beautiful struggle and for giving us hope that it does get better!
