President Trump’s first actions on immigration will be exactly as harsh as he promised

The border wall was authorized by the Congress in 2006 — it’s not a new policy. Only its completion is a new policy. As for suspending visas for people coming from countries ‘of particular concern’, that makes sense — at least until the vetting process is improved. President Obama suspended entry into the United States for people from Syria in 2011 because several Syrians in the United States killed American citizens. I heard no liberal screams about that.

Before liberals get bent out of shape over this, I don’t President Trump did anything today but follow existing American immigration law. You may not like those laws, but they are the laws of the country — enacted by sitting congresses and signed by sitting presidents. If you don’t like their enforcement, get the laws changed — don’t expect this president to ignore laws he’s obligated by the Constitution to enforce.
