Africa continuously yarns for better and sophisticated technology as we continue to grow as a nation. however, imagine how much time we will spend if we are all busy creating the same or similar projects from scratch. This very act will keep us at the technological black hole for a very long time and surprisingly that in itself has been our plight as a nation.

We will continue to pay for our inability to connect effectively and share. if we don’t embrace open source as a tool for National technological advancement the trend of backwardness will continue. It is time we give ourselves the heads up by making open source the center and the banking house of technological development in Africa as a Nation. Developers around the continent should be willing to share their source codes with the rest of the world knowing this is a contribution to better a nation rather than making personal gains.

Technological hubs across Africa should learn to connect and share ideas effectively rather than work remotely focusing only on their challenges and projects, this synergy will spark a new trend of innovation as many of the problems will b solved fasted based on previously written codes available in the open-source.
It is time for Africa to leverage open-source technology as a system and tool for technological advancement.
