I appreciate the article, as it expresses my dismay at how the use of shaming has eliminated critical thinking, and more importantly real discussion. Politics will make it hard to rectify this, as identity politics is the underpinning of every discussion had in the public square. Shaming is the new ‘shut up’ card, that aims to stifle any facts, truths, or other critiques that do not fit the narrative. You can already see the impact of this on society. Surveys show huge changes in public attitude in a very short period. This is unlikely, but used as proof that the public is on their side. More likely it reflects the person being surveyed s fear of a truthful response. If the truth dies, then social justice will only be a tool to political ends, and in the end we will be less free to use our minds. Have we not learned from the past (Nazis, Stalin, Mao), who used this to kill over 100 million people that failed to agree with them?
