Chase the RIGHT Goals For YOU

The other day I had 2 close encounters with death.
Don’t run away, it’s not all morbid and depressing.
First it was a squirming mouse on the sidewalk. I had to walk on the other side of the street with the dog so he wouldn’t see it.
Then later that day there was a groundhog or something, flopping around in the middle of the highway and I couldn’t swerve due to cars being on both sides of me.
I was a little spooked.. like, is this a sign of something?
It got me to thinking.
Even though we can “go” at any time, I still want to be strong as I can be.
I want to be in the best shape of my life today.
Not for the 6 pack abs. I never really cared about them except for maybe a few months.
For those who really want them or who are super proud of having them, good for them.
I never interfere with someone else’s goals/dreams/ambitions.
What I have found though, most of the people I work with, whether in person or through the online world, most of you aren’t obsessed with getting 6 pack abs.
No matter what the mainstream says..
I’ve been told many things, by many people since I started on this path of strength and fitness and helping others through my training. Some of it I paid TOO MUCH attention to.
One of those things was “people just want to lose weight, get toned abs..”
My experience has found this to not be true. Sure, some people would like a flatter stomach, lose some of the beer belly, drop some pounds. Of course. But the obsession with the 6-pack abs and getting super lean is overrated and exaggerated.
To sum up my message- do what you feel deep inside.
Life is short, as they say, so don’t go chasing goals that you think you are supposed to. Chase them goals that make you feel alive and fired up/ excited for the future with your family, friends..
Strength training makes everything in life better. I feel it every day and I want to share that with anyone who is on the fence about it, or not sure what they should do for “exercise”..
We don’t get to choose when we leave this place, of course. But we do get to choose how strong we are and our quality of life will reflect that.
