In case you haven’t heard, on January 8th, President Trump was permanently banned from his favorite social media platform, Twitter.
He had over 88 million followers, and was clearly generating a lot of interest in the website. Make no mistake, there were more users were on Twitter because of Donald Trump. But, despite this fact, the company permanently suspended his account.
Why would they do that?
According to Twitter, it was two tweets on Friday that caused Twitter to ban Donald Trump. For the sake of context, let’s take a quick look at those as well as Twitter’s response.
On January 8th, Trump…
2021 is here! So it’s a great time to put together a content strategy that you can use in the new year. I recently did a free 30-min masterclass titled “How To Become A Content Machine” for Story 2021.
Also, if you’re launching a book this year, I just wrote a very helpful post that takes you through the process of creating a book launch, one step at a time. I hope you enjoy it! You can access that post here.
Have a good day and happy writing,
P.S. Feel free to share some of your writing with me. I’ll read it and clap for it. email@example.com
Now it’s time to let other people know about it. Before you dive in, I think it’s important to know that there is no such thing as the perfect book launch. A book launch will always have a few hiccups because of all the moving pieces. So, give yourself some slack out of the gate.
The key is to emphasize your strengths and be as organized as possible.
I know that’s not easy because you’ve just written a book. You’re tired. Your sick of that book. …
Happy New Year And A Gift For You
I hope you’re doing well and staying healthy. Christmas flew by, didn’t it? I think I’ve watched Home Alone a dozen times by now. I may or may not be exaggerating :)
I just wanted to pop in briefly and share a gift with you as a way of saying thanks for following Write Stuff. One of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received is when others share their time with me and connect with me to form community.
On that note, I personally want to invite you to a free month of the StoryCrafting Mastermind (January 2021). Just click here, and I’ll tell you all about it. This is a great opportunity jumpstart your writing in 2021!
Happy Holidays and happy writing,
The science is in regarding social media, and the findings are not very surprising. The University of Arkansas just released a new study which is the first large, national study to show a link between social media use and depression over time.
The connection is clear between social media and depression.
Essentially, the more time you spend on social media, the more likely you are to become depressed. Participants who used social media for more than 300 minutes per day were 2.8 …
Feeling stuck? Maybe lacking focus? Need some more discipline in your life?
I can help you out with that. And it won’t take much time at all either.
Here’s how we can do it: perspective. Perspective is very powerful. It’s probably one of the most powerful things you can ever give yourself. It’s why you hire a coach or get a mentor to help you grow. They give you perspective that you cannot find on your own. Honestly, it’s even why many people hire a counselor too. That and sometimes we don’t trust ourselves fully.
So, what if you could unlock a new perspective just with a few simple questions? The good news is you can. Allow me to share with you something I call the 5/5/5 Rule. It’s simple but also extremely powerful. …
The sound of the gun firing scared the shit out of me. It was louder than I thought it’d be. The moment I pulled the trigger and the bullet went into his skull, I knew there was no going back. Everything changed in that fraction of a second.
Surprisingly, I didn’t feel anything. I wasn’t sad or happy or anything really. He had to go. That was it. End of the story. It was him or me.
I looked down at his body and was surprised to see that there wasn’t very much blood. Nothing like the movies. The bullet went in and never came back out. …
The numbers have seriously dropped. What can we do as writers?
If you haven’t looked recently at your stats, it’s worth taking a look today. I bet there’s been a serious drop in both traffic and revenue.
A writing friend recently told me something interesting. “Medium is dead. My numbers have tanked. I’m making less now per post than at any point.”
Wow. But I have to admit, this didn’t shock me. I can completely confirm the same thing.
In November, I was making 5.1 cents per minute for this post in read time. (Similar in October too.)
Hope you’re doing well and staying healthy. The end of the year is coming, and now is the perfect time to raise your rates for your writing.
You’re better now than you were a year ago, right? Of course you are. It’s only natural to have a rate increase.
I just published a post here that features a handy email you can use to raise your rates in a nice way. I truly hope it helps you out.
P.S. I mentioned NewsBreak in a recent post and had to pull it down because I was afraid I gave up too many details of the contract. Here’s the full post in a Google Doc. I just received confirmation that I am getting paid today for November. It definitely is legit.
