Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It’s absolutely great to see more people openly speak about it. However, I have to say I disagree with this approach.

You are basically arguing that you are the exception.

While I agree about your point about individualism, that stereotypes would not cover all people because there are always individual exceptions, I do not think we can address the issues of gender-based discrimination at workplace by talking about individuals without recognizing men and women are simply able to have the same achievements. NOT just one individual female whose entire family are CS PhDs is biologically designed to be an engineer, but all females just like all males can be good engineers. You talked about the bell curve and defended the 32% percent that can be exceptions, and my point is the 68% of normal females **fundamentally** have the same potential as the majority of men.

I think my frustration comes from the fact that men do not have to spend this time and energy to defend themselves and prove them to be the exceptions to be good engineers, while we are. I don’t think we can isolate ourselves to be the exceptions, when the general female population is suffering under such bias.
