How to start Django project (2)

From the previous post, we’ve talked about installing the environment settings which includes, virtual envrionment, django, pip and so on.

This time we are actually going to install the django project. So before you start decide your project’s name which you’ll see everytime in the whole developing period. (Recommned the names which are easy to type or easy to use autocomplete by pressing tab button)

For both Mac and Windows.

(myvenv) <directory> $ django-admin startproject <project name> .

now you have your new django proeject.

There are several ways to put your folders, but I prefer like this

The hierarchy of files and folders

Now you have your own project. conrat!.

Now lets run the project.

For Mac and Windows

# all the command are inserted where manage.py file exist.

$ python3 manage.py runserver

Then you’ll see

When you type python3 manage.py in your commandline.

Now open any web browser you’re familiar with. Type the ‘127.0.0.1:8000’ or you can just type ‘localhost:8000’. I recommend you to use the fomer one.

If you see the this picture below, you’ve made it.

You’ve succeeded.

Next we’ll talk about how to make apps. apps are not “app”s in the playstore or appstore. An app is a functional property that works along the projects. You’ll understand what I meant as we proceed.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
