And more viruses to come. And who it will kill.

The coronavirus seems to kill more men than women.

Health psychology can help solve these problems.

When science has outcomes, we can know what causes diseases, thus we can change behavior when behavior is related to the problems.

Social epidemiology can help too

But it about social structures that cause problems in epidemiology. Health psychology is about behavior that causes health problems.

Why do more men die than women?

I had this question since the beginning too. There are more men in China and in the USA more women, so, I thought after a while, it could be that difference.

But there are things that cause the difference, and make men die more.

X chromosome

  • a more robust immune system, overreacting causes illnesses, but with viruses it protects women and their babies more, also stronger immune response with vaccines
  • ovaries
  • breast milk
  • estrogen

Lifestyle factors

  • less smoking women
  • more men have diabetes 2 and high blood pressure, which cause problems

Yara virus

Since January there is Yara (or Lara). The death rate of 2%.

We will see with Yara too who dies of this. Mainly men again are to expect. Also, the elderly too. And many ill from 30. But we have to see and study all the results to know for sure.

Ancient viruses to come too.
