Day 4: Forest Drive — Windy Roads
When You Find Beauty In the Simple Moments
Do you ever have moments in your life that you just want to capture? Not to re-live them, or to even use them as a cheer-me-up, but because they’re so dear to you?
These moments are often fleeting — a suspended period of time where peace reigns and love overflows. Perhaps that’s what makes them so precious. The unreplicability elevates its beauty.
Now imagine sharing that moment with someone. That fond memory is now encapsulated and memorialized within the comfort of two smiles, held by the grasp of two familiar hands. It’s easy to relate to this within the context of romance, but I’m talking about something else entirely.
On second note, I am talking about the ultimate romance — the only love story to stand the test of time. You already know where this is heading, don’t you? You got it, I’m talking about Christ.
I was gently reminded of this today.
In essence, it was a simple moment: an unexpected drive through a foresty neighborhood after a day’s work; the beats of music complimenting the twists of the road; the humid afternoon air finally calming down to a gentle breeze.
Trust me. I was definitely feeling the joy in the simplicity. The preciousness enveloped me so fully that I broke out in all smiles and grins. So much so, that I would have been embarrassed if you saw me.
But what really struck me in the moment, was a familiar realization.
“God is good”
“Not just good, God is consistently good”
“God is consistently good to me. God is consistently good to us”
These are the moments in life that I hope to share with someone someday, God-willing. But for now — and for the rest of my life — I’ll find joy in simply sharing this moment with Him.
