JJ Murphy: Fostering Public-Private Partnerships for Hobbs, New Mexico
JJ Murphy is the City Manager of the City of Hobbs, New Mexico. Murphy has done his part in helping Hobbs grow and prosper in recent years. It was recently ranked in the top ten of the fastest-growing micro cities (no more than 50,000 residents) in the United States and named one of the best places to open a small business in 2017 in a recent survey of growing cities nationwide. Part of the reason why Hobbs has been a hotbed of new jobs, residents, and opportunities is because of the advantageous public-private partnerships forged by the city’s government.
JJ Murphy has been proud to work for Hobbs, New Mexico, fostering several public-private partnerships that he says are:
“delivering significant quality of life improvements, enhancing public safety, adding critical housing stock, improving customer service and providing the fiscal resources to implement employee initiatives which all benefited the staff and our citizens.”
By creating collaboration between private and public interest groups, JJ Murphy and his team working hard within the City of Hobbs, New Mexico have created many improvements and opportunities for all its citizens to benefit from over $150M of public-private-partnership investments. Murphy hopes that more partnerships will be formed along the way to make Hobbs stronger.
