Thanks your your response! While I appreciate where you’re coming from, I don’t think I agree.

From your suggestion about picking up another language, I assume you’re picturing that the audience of this article speak English as their first and only language — this is certainly not necessarily the case.

As I’m sure you do as well, I have many colleagues who speak English as a second, third or fourth language. They may speak it well, but when it comes to writing, there’s a notable polish that’s missing. Other colleagues speak English as their first language, but still lack fundamentals that I’m sure are far beneath you if you’re as actively engaged in writing as you seem to be.

I see them putting in solid effort into the day-to-day writing that’s involved in being a software developer, but ending up falling short over small issues around basics. This article seeks to help them in a small way, or at the very least encourage them to view this as an important part of their career growth.

Is this article all they need to succeed? Definitely not. Should they pass on all writing to someone else? I don’t think so. I’d love to see my colleagues grow in their proficiency, and I’m very happy that our team is one that would help clean up their writing rather than take away the opportunity to improve.
