Disagree. Having your own platform site with its own domain name is tedious because of the coding you likely will have to do, costly because you have to usually pay for hosting and for the domain, and the constant headache of redesign to fit what drives your readers of your site.

I suggest that a platform be on something like Blogger or Wordpress and that until you see paid work that you have ‘blogspot’ or ‘wordpress’ as part of your domain URL string. This way you have minimal design control, no html or other related coding to do, access to free use of protected graphics, themes, photos, fonts and tools and a host with stellar web security built-in and much more you’d otherwise have to pay for and hope will stick around and not fold on you.

The whole idea of becoming in your writing is to have the least hassle so you can have the most freedom to write.
