I question your original vision for the internet, and whether it actually ever came about.

The internet I know is and always has been dominated by a small collection of powerful and incredibly wealthy monopolies that profit from lax regulation around responsible content stewardship, and work incredibly hard to share as little as possible of their revenue with the creators and suppliers of the content they monetize.

The internet I know, including Wikipedia, is filled with false information and blatant untruths that metastasize precisely because of the voluntary blinders worn by digital utopians.

Shame on Wikimedia for joining the campaign of blatant misinformation around the European Copyright Directive. By aligning yourselves with tech one-percenters profiting from the uncompensated work of others, you have forever destroyed your claim to neutrality. Wikipedia is now nothing more than a lobbying arm of the world’s wealthiest and least regulated corporations.
