What Is Spiritual Enlightenment?

We wake up. We go to work. We go home. We sleep. We wake up. We go to work. We go home. We sleep. All the way until we die.

Is that really all there is to life? Like hamsters on a wheel, is that our only goal?

The very fact that you’re reading this article means that on some level, you know that there’s something more.

THE SUPREME GOAL

Some call it Truth. Some call it the Ultimate Reality. Others call it God.

Spiritual enlightenment transcends the boundaries of language. The Truth is beyond ideology. The Truth isn’t a mere way of thinking, or a logically derived philosophy. It’s a beauty beyond comprehension. Beyond mental speculation. Freedom from human suffering.

Along the journey Home, you might come across the different facets of God, whether that’s Absolute Love, Absolute Knowledge, Absolute Perfection or any of the other hundreds of wordlessly beautiful facets of Truth out there that will bring you to tears.

Take human love - a thing most of us would have felt - and multiply that feeling by 100, and it might start to describe a drop of the depth of what Absolute Love is.

“What you seek is seeking you” ~ Rumi

SEEKING TRUTH

Regular spiritual practice including (but not limited to) meditation, self inquiry, shadow work and chanting mantra have been key on my own Path for the past 8 years.

It’s also been about going about life turning fear into love, trauma into compassion and resistance into acceptance.

Of course though, the spiritual Path is as unique to one as their own fingerprint.

Teachers, books and articles can be great guides, but direct experience is king. Let that be your most reliable source of Knowledge.
Strike the balance between believing nothing blindly (including this article), but being open-minded enough to experiment with techniques that can be vehicles to take you to the Ultimate Reality.

RELIGION AND SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT

You’ll find religion pointing to spiritual enlightenment with different names, whether that’s "Nirvana" in Buddhism, “to die before one dies" in Sufism or "Moksha" in Hinduism.

Religion can be a great tool to point you towards God, but isn’t necessary to be a part of in your search if you don’t resonate with it.

Remember: the Truth is free. It’s not owned by any person or religion; it’s inherently within you. Within all of us.

Your heart is the ultimate Holy Book.
